It proved to be particularly useful with unfamiliar idioms (such as early polyphony, or contemporary microtonal music), or in productions scheduled with little rehearsal time.  Developed at Ircam by Jonathan Bell and Benjamin Matuszewski, SmartVox owes its realization to a long research process and generous support from the French medieval women vocal ensemble De Caelis.
